Pigletta’s Purple Haze - A New Release (+ Limited Edition drop and a free strain!)

Pigletta’s Purple Haze is named after our company mascot and one of our first Farm Friends. Pigletta, a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, sadly wasn’t with us on this earth for too many years, but she was a sweetheart whose presence and memory we hold dearly. This is one of the final projects that originally started on our original Farm and is finally about to see the light of day! The drop is scheduled for 19th of August at  1pm EU, 12pm UK, 7am Eastern, 4am Pacific.

Here’s a little excerpt from Pigletta’s Purple Haze strain description to get you hyped for the drop:

When we first emigrated to Spain, we’d already amassed a sizeable, stacked seed collection ready to sift through and sink our teeth into. Amongst this was a whole load of early Rare Dankness gear that we meticulously hunted through to find some of the most fire strains around at the time. After the exceptional results from the first Rare Dankness-based project, Fantasmo Express, we delved back in to look for nice candidates that would lend well to another newly developed Mephisto Genetics strain, Northern Cheese Haze.

Some teenage nostalgia was definitely present when selecting Purple Haze to work into autoflowering form. Purple Haze was a classic, almost mythical strain from our youth that we had longed to sample, and it shares its name with one of Tim’s favourite songs of all time. 

Selections were made in line with our Spanish farm process, we made two selections at F0 Purple haze #2 x NCH, one was a slightly broader leaved indica, and one was much more sativa, at F1 we grew out around 50 from the more sativa dominant line. One intrinsic trait we saw and loved was that despite sexing early they flowered whilst putting on size rapidly. At F2 we started 100 plants to arrive at 25 males and females combined and found 5 females that represented exactly what we were after, the next generations were just to refine and lock in the-little-sativa-that-could phenotypes.

A New Limited Edition Drop, a free strain and an early-adopter discount!

Along with Pigletta’s Purple Haze, we’re also introducing a brand new lineup of Limited Editions. A little explanation for those just getting on board the Mephisto train: Originally the Mephisto Genetics Limited Edition line was intended to be a genuine once-and-done Limited Edition offering, which back in the day could have been seeds just from one plant, however as our little company has grown and evolved over the years so did the line and the methodology behind it. As demand grew and we wanted to get these gems into more customers' hands, Limiteds became a further worked strain, taken to F3 with more seeds available. However, we’ve switched up our breeding processes for this new format whereby we’ll release our brand new strain with carefully selected standout hybrids to accompany them.

Expect a primetime squat phattie, doused in frost and exploding with sweet and savoury tones. Berry aromas with a savoury cheese funk hit.

A cerebral buzz that creeps up on you, with a light aroma during your grow but heavy hitting flavours on the palate once cured and smoked. Expect a shorter haze plant, with musky scents, gassy notes and over-ripe, fermented fruits on the inhale.

Marrying some savoury, hazey cheese with fruity, jammy biscuits might sound a little insane on the outside, but, no, actually, we’d agree. BUT, flavour combinations are what Mephisto is all about. Sticky, colourful buds and a palate you’ll be wrapping your tongue around far beyond the first few tokes.

A grandparent-backcross, Pigletta’s Purple Haze traces its lineage through Northern Cheese Haze back to Fantasmo Express and what was at the time, the most sativa dominant strain in our catalogue. Doubling down on the haze, expect an uplifting, energetic and creative high that doesn’t put you in the doldrums on the comedown.

Expect a shorter varietal but a thorough-bred heavy weight, with nuggetry packing on size through the grow, almost like a mini-UberReem. Complex gassy notes are expected to dominate, with a myriad of other flavour spikes coming and going on the smoke.

Cheese on cheese, like a French dreamscape (even though we all know, deep down, English cheese is the best). A pungent strain with dense buds, a little height to her and cheese-heavy smoke.

A fruit salad haze with a heavy whipped cream topping. We hope for some colouration to shine through with this girl, strong in the growth cycle and packing on weight throughout. A heady, lasting high that will gradually settle and mellow into the body. 

Purple Moon Cheese
Pigletta's Purple Haze x Northern Cheese Haze
A backcross of kinds, doubling up on those savoury cheese notes and hazey goodness. This is the one I’ve been most excited for, like Pigletta’s with more cheese, more haze and more of that Northern steel.

If you want a cerebral strain to get shit done with, this is your pick. Uplifting, energetic and creative, with lots of classic haze traits and spicey, gassy notes. We expect some added size to Pigletta and oceans of frost packed on every single inch of plant.

Sweet baked goods aromas, with some added savoury cheese notes, like a fresh, out-of-the-oven gassy cheese flan. Expect a plant that can stretch, but lacks some internodal space, so crank those fans and make sure your airflow is on point.

Bursting with a zesty, citrusy aroma underscored by savoury notes and a depth of haze. Expect a smorgasbord of flavour profiles on a larger plant with a slightly delayed explosion into flower.

Nostalgia overload, like watching The Expendables on VHS. Expect a high just won’t quit, with a sweet, tropical aroma and floral haze. A Mephisto time capsule of a strain, with the fingerprints of the original farm all over her, a halcyon days style strain that is a true nostalgia trip for all of us original members of the Mephisto crew and those early-adopter Meph Heads who have got us to where we are today.
