Flash the badge and slip on your sunnies; sliding across the bonnet (or hood, because I’ve been told my writing needs to be more inclusive of our American Meph Heads) and into a grow tent near you, Mephmosa. Arriving with an accompaniment of slap bass, wah-wah guitar and suspiciously convenient stacks of boxes in alleyways; she’ll leave you feeling like taking a rip down a sun-drenched highway in a hot-red Ferrari wearing an eye-melting Hawaiian shirt.

On one of our early reconnaissance missions stateside, we were sampling our way through a sea of new strains when Symbiotic Genetics’ Mimosa [Clementine x Purple Punch] practically picked our pockets. Symbiotic have a well-earned reputation for wild fruit profiles, and while we’ve historically been a bit cynical when it comes to orange terps, Mimosa was an open-and-shut case. A nose of straight-up fresh OJ paired with an utterly offensive level of trichome production made believers out of us quicker than you can say “I ain’t gettin’ on no plane, fool!”

When it came to assigning a partner to Mimosa, our investigation didn’t make it past the first suspect: Double Grape. She really needs no introduction at this point; a longstanding Meph Head favourite, a specialist in frost and potency, along with a fruity, candied-grape kick. She adds weight and strength to everything she touches, just check out some of the reviews of Guava Fig or MephistO’z if you’re on the fence. Mimosa and Double Grape became our Tucker and Chan; an unlikely duo that created pure gold and will have you saying "Do you understand the terps that are coming out of my joint?!" …Let’s move on.

Mephmosa blasts right out of the gate, stretching high and wide, with nugs of off-the-charts density. She’s a thing of beauty that’ll have you admiring her like we all admire Tom Selleck’s perfect moustache. Giving off orange juice and grape candy on the vine, it transitions to a straight-up sweet OJ in the jar before McGarretting your taste buds with orange blossom and sherbet on the palate.

Mephmosa has an obliterating mind warp of an experience. Effects are cerebral, disorienting, and borderline debilitating. Mephmosa takes a comfortable seat on our face-melter podium right alongside Guava Fig and 505 Headbanger, delivering an immediate, disorienting cerebral shift that can leave even the hardcore stoners holding a lit joint in total amnesia. If fruity notes and complete brain-scrambling debilitation are your forte, she’ll happily knock you clean out of your socks with a sack of clementines. Reserve this for the top-shelf head stash, ensure your carbon filters are rated for chemical warfare, and remember: experts only.

She yields big, has unbelievable resin production and sweet-tooth fruit profile to die for. She’s ticking all of our boxes, let’s dive into how she is to grow.

Mephmosa shows explosive early vigour, expanding rapidly out of the seedling stage with thick stems and a strong, pine-tree style apical dominance. Given plenty of root space, she stretches out with generous node spacing that naturally keeps airflow moving through the canopy. Growth can easily top an inch a day heading into flower, with strong lateral branches reaching out to fill the corners of your space. She is exceptionally easy to manage, requiring minimal leaf tucking as her fan leaves naturally rest clear of the flowering sites.

Early on, you might notice minor leaf quirks such as light variegation or indented, serrated leaf margins. These cosmetic traits disappear quickly within a set or two, leaving behind thick, dark green foliage that doesn't slow down her progress. As she moves into flower, she showcases two distinct expressions: a lush green phenotype that holds its foliage up to harvest, and a striking purple phenotype that fades into deep violet hues, setting bright white, frosty buds against dark fan leaves.

Mephmosa is well-tempered and easygoing in the grow room, taking routine feeding and watering in her stride without putting up a fuss. She isn’t overly sensitive to light or nutrients, though her appetite and water intake increase significantly once her rapid bloom phase takes hold and those dense floral clusters start to swell. As with most autoflowers, if you get her off to a good, healthy start in veg, she’ll reward you with a smooth, trouble-free run straight through to harvest.

The flowering stage on Mephmosa is a total showstopper. She packs on rock-hard, ridiculously dense floral clusters that get so heavy her outer branches will need support ties or stakes to keep from bowing over. Frost production is off the charts, with darker phenotypes displaying a textured, sandpaper-like trichome density, while greener phenotypes produce sappy, sticky resin heads that will gum up your fingers on contact. Trimmed up, she offers elite bag appeal with incredible bud density and shimmering resin coverage.

Aromatics start off in veg with a sharp rose and orange degreaser stem rub, before shifting into loud orange blossom in early bloom. Post-cure, green phenotypes lean hard into a sour, fresh-squeezed OJ profile, while purple phenotypes express a sweet, syrupy grape candy with a smooth sandalwood base. On the palate, she delivers a sharp hit of orange blossom and sherbet on the intake, settling into a creamy, candied grape and orange syrup finish.

Don’t let the sweet fruit profile fool you; Mephmosa delivers a head-scrambling, disorienting experience that isn't for the faint-hearted. The onset is immediate and heavily cerebral, wrapping you in a thick mental fog that can leave even veteran stoners holding a lit joint in total amnesia. It’s a heavy-gravity, couch-locking high that will leave you happily immobilised for the rest of the evening. Save this one for the top-shelf head stash when all your daily tasks are done.
